Treatability Studies

MICROCOSM STUDIES

Assess bioremediation strategies such as natural attenuation, biostimulation, or bioaugmentation in a cost-effective manner using microcosms prior to implementing field-scale projects. Microcosms are simplified, artificial ecosystems that allow the simulation of natural ecosystems under controlled conditions. Our staff has decades of experience in conducting microcosm-based treatability studies and can work closely with you to ensure you obtain the data you need to make informed decisions.

COLUMN STUDIES

As flow-through systems, soil columns can help predict the fate and transport of contaminants as well as treatment efficacy under controlled conditions. Column studies are generally prepared using site-specific aquifer materials and set up hydraulically to simulate groundwater velocity. Samples are taken over time to determine the spatial and temporal changes of contaminants, electron acceptors, and microbial functional genes along the column’s length.

GREENHOUSE STUDIES

Limit confounding factors such as pests, diseases, and weather-related damage while conducting agricultural or botanical experiments in a light, temperature, and humidity controlled environment. Our staff has wide-ranging experience in ecotoxicology, phytoremediation, and crop production.

FIELD STUDIES

Conduct small-scale field studies at Sentinel Environmental’s Central Texas agricultural facility. Experiments can be performed in either an open field setting or within one of our high tunnels.
